Tell us a bit about you and where you grew up and yourself/family life?

I grew up on our family irrigation farm near Murrami. After finishing school I moved to Griffith to do an Electrical apprenticeship with Essential Energy where I worked for 11 years.  It was during this time I married my husband Dane who was a farmer from Carrathool, and shortly after we decided to follow my family to Wagga so we could continue farming. We now live on our own cattle farm at Big Springs with our four children Lucy 7, Jess 6, Toby 4 and Elsie 3!

When did you start working with Active Farmers?

I began running Active Farmers classes in August 2018 at Ladysmith and Book Book.

What has been your highlight/s this year?

This year a highlight was definitely our first family holiday to the beach. It was the first time 3 of our children had seen the ocean and their excitement was contagious!

What do you like most about Active Farmers?

I love the comradery and support. Whether its from Ginny and my fellow trainers, or people in my classes, everyone is so supportive of each other. There is no judgement or negativity. It’s so nice to see people leaving class with a smile on their face. Active Farmers is a great way for people to connect and improve their health at the same time.

What are you most looking forward to in the New Year of Active Farmers, as a trainer and Event Manager?

There are so many exciting events coming in 2020! As a trainer I think our Spring Into 2020 program will be a great way to ‘treat’ my communities. They will be offered free classes and a free launch dinner in February.

In my Event Manager role, I can’t wait to be involved in the Active Farmers Games in Temora again. Last year was such a success and with such positive feedback from participants, the event should be bigger, better and dirtier(!) than last year.

Do you have a motto that you go by?

I don’t really have a motto as such. I just believe you should always try your best. This way you will have no regrets.

Thank you Alison for joining our Active Farmers support team!!!
