it’s Women's Health Week, so we have a chat with Annie Geard!

This Super Woman lives on the land with her husband and two boys near Mangoplah NSW.  Annie is also a Vet and volunteers her time on the Active Farmers ‘ Run For Resilience’ event committee.

Annie is responsible for inspiring the idea for our ‘Run For Resilience’, taking place in Mangoplah on the 11th October.   Her motivation for this idea?

"I find value in encouraging others with their exercise goals, and love seeing post exercise smiles. This is what has inspired the ‘Run For Resilience’; communities gathering, supporting and exercising together. It is a fantastic way to fight mental health.”

Annie has also recently signed up for the Active Farmers 8 Week Challenge in Mangoplah NSW! Read on for a Q&A with Annie about why she signed up for the challenge.

Q1. What motivated you to join the Active Farmers 8 Week Challenge? Isolation has been no ones friend, especially exercise! So when I saw the challenge, I thought it was a great way to get inspired to get back into exercise! At such great value for money I was drawn to it!

Q2. What goal(s) have you set yourself for the end of the challenge? I am hoping to complete the Run For Resilience half marathon 21km. Whether it be at a walk or run, I’m keen to finish it.

Q3. Were you an Active Farmer prior to joining the challenge?  If yes, how long for? Yes. I joined Active Farmers when I moved to Mangoplah in 2016. It has become such a life line for me, allowing me to meet new people and get some endorphins post exercise, it always brightens my day no matter what mood I’m in before class.

Q4. What impact has Active Farmers had on your life and on your community? When I moved to Mangoplah we didn’t know anyone. My husband works away a lot, so having Active Farmers to introduce me to friendly faces in the area has definitely given me support that I needed.

Q5. Women today do an amazing job juggling family, career and life. How do you take care of you, and prioritise your own health and wellness so you can continue to do amazing things? It’s hard! But going easy on yourself, knowing what your needs are and being open about them with your support crew, so they can support you when you need that “break”! It might sound ‘cliche’ but exercising, catching up with friends and meditation are what reset me! And snap - that’s just what the challenge is all about! Perfect after the unusual juggle of COVID and kids!!!

Thanks Annie for sharing with us, and good luck with the 21km event in October.
