This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to join an Active Farmers group of 25 people from Cairns to Cape York.

Welcome to one of the greatest cycling adventures on the planet a breathtaking ride from the edge of the bitumen to the tip of Cape York. It’s the mountain biking ‘bucket list adventure of a lifetime‘ through some of Australia’s most amazing, iconic and remote terrain.

The tracks are rough and the distances are long but experienced local riders David Wood and Mark Allen will guide you safely to the tip. It’s 8 days / 7 nights and 500km of spectacular scenery, amazing riding and warm hospitality peppered with history and indigenous culture.

We begin riding in cattle country, working our way through National Parks, historic mining towns, Aboriginal settlements and remote communities before the piece de resistance – 5 days of incredible riding along the infamous Frenchman & Telegraph Tracks. On the final day of riding we’ll have breakfast on the beach, ride to the tip then board a charter boat to cruise across the Torres Strait to Thursday Island where we’ll relax amongst the culture of the islands.

This ride is meant to be an adventure, a once in a lifetime bucket list challenge. It is for the real mountain bike enthusiast with a desire to see and fully appreciate the remote and adventurous parts of Cape York. It is designed to be harder and longer than most multi day rides and we’ll endeavour to gather a group of riders with these sorts of abilities.

We are locals, having lived, worked, ridden and explored Cape York over the past 30 years. Riding is our passion and we know the region like no other. The dates for our tours are picked to showcase Cape York in all its glory with abundant water and wildlife, but without the crowds.

Domestic and International flights to Cairns are easily achieved, making this ‘bucket list adventure of a lifetime‘ an eight day (one week off work) very achievable from anywhere in Australia.

Rider’s Ability

Fitness and your ability to ride a mountain bike all day is key to your enjoyment and ability to complete the ride. You need to be a cycling enthusiast with above average fitness. The riding is amazing and very much mountain biking – particularly on the Frenchmans and Telegraph Tracks with their crystal clear creek crossings and flowing trails.

Bike Requirement

Your bike needs to be of a cross country / marathon nature and fitted with tubeless tyres (compulsory). It needs to be serviced beforehand.

Itinerary

The ride will comprise 64 to 92km  per day, camping, relaxing, amazing food, a support vehicle to carry your gear and flying back to Cairns from Horn Island.

The adventure is all about the riding, but we still plan breaks at all of the best attractions on the Cape, from swimming holes, to waterfalls, historical monuments and areas of cultural significance. Every day we include additional “X factor” experiences that only us locals can offer. We’ll even share our secret Barramundi Fishing spots ( if you choose to get up early enough😁). To finish in style well celebrate by staying in luxury accommodation on Thursday Island for the final night.
