Who can come?

All farmers and the Hughenden community are welcome to come along to the Active Farmer classes! It doesn't matter what level of fitness you have or how much experience you have, our programs are designed to be suitable for everyone. At Active Farmers we believe the more the merrier and the more diverse the group the better! For any questions or concerns get in touch with Mel. 

What does it cost?

  • One off class = $15

  • 10 class pass = $130 ($13/class)

  • One month/one class per week = $50 ($12.5/class)

  • One month/two classes per week = $80 ($10/class)

  • One month pass with two classes/month = $27 ($13.5/class)

  • Three months/one class per week = $130 ($11/class)

  • Three months/two classes per week = $204 ($8.5/class)

  • High school ages kids = $5/class

  • Primary school aged kids and under come for free!

Welcome Mel Neilsen!

I am a wife and mother to 2 children; Lucy 7 and Dustin 5 plus my 13 year old stepdaughter Chloe, and we also have one on the way – due in March 2018. Originally from Central Qld, we moved to Hughenden away from all our family and friends in 2009 to start our lives together and our own adventure! My husband is a born and bred Grazier, and whilst I had grown up on a hobby farm I had always been in an office for my work so moving out to Camden Park was a huge shock to the system for me. I never expected we’d be here all this time later loving the life we have created for ourselves. Being away from everyone and everything that you know is sometimes very difficult but stepping out of our comfort zone and making new friends and becoming part of the Hughenden community has been so rewarding. We really feel at home here nowadays and have made lifelong friends. I have always been conscious of my health and fitness since leaving school and came to really miss my regular gym sessions when we moved out here with no gym in site for 110km. I have made do with a teeny tiny gym room in my house which usually only consisted of a treadmill until recent times when I have acquired extra gym equipment. Realising how much I loved to exercise and the benefits of it, I decided in 2016 that I wanted to be able to share it with more people. I became very passionate about spreading motivation and inspiration for daily exercise and nutrition so I studied to be a Personal Trainer at the Australian Institute of Fitness. Having now completed my studies back in July, I am ready to put all I have learnt into practice and step out from behind my SmartPhone to bring more face-to-face motivation and inspiration to those around me who want to better their health.
