5 minutes of exercise is still beneficial!

In this day and age who isn't busy??? You might be a farmer, a nurse, a parent or grandparent - it doesn't matter who you are, the lack of time is the greatest preventer of healthy habits. In a perfect world we would exercise for 30 - 60 minutes every day, however the world isn't perfect and that goal for many people is just not possible! It also more beneficial to exercise for 30 - 60 minutes continually, however again some days this just isn't going to happen. Did you know that 5 minutes throughout the day when you can is still beneficial?!?!

Raising your heart rate by completing some high intensity exercise for 5 minutes throughout the day will still provide benefits such as; an energy boost, a mood lifter by quick release of the hormone dopamine, a chance to quickly clear your mind and relieve some stress, plus many more benefits! 

Try completing this quick 5 minute circuit 3-4 times each day when you have 5 minutes to spare;

  • 20 seconds burpees or squat jumps
  • 20 seconds lunge jumps or lunges
  • 20 seconds pushups
  • Repeat 5 times

Make sure you are warm prior - try jogging on the spot for 1-2 minutes, then ease into the circuit if you are not quite warmed up. 

Life can be a juggling act, however every little bit of time spent raising your heart rate adds up! 

Take care of yourself and when you're busy aim to slot in a few 5 minute exercise boosts throughout the day!
