Lucy has always enjoyed being fit, active and outdoors. She grew up in England, moving to suburban Melbourne during her high school days. Lucy was a keen horse rider in her younger years in England, and enjoyed playing Netball, Softball and going to the gym whilst living in Melbourne.
After getting married to her husband Ben, she moved from Victoria to live on his family farm, which is 25km from Ariah Park. They currently run his family business, a Poll Dorset, White Suffolk & Suffolk Sheep Stud.
Lucy loved farm life from the beginning, after growing up in a rural village in England – 'it was great to be back out in the country'. However, the distance to nearby towns and access to shops and gym facilities was a little isolating.
Lucy & Ben were lucky enough to have 3 children within the 2 years soon after they were married (Maya now 9 and twins Ruby and Henry now 7). She found herself very busy, with not much spare time. It was after the birth of the twins that Lucy took up running around their farm, as she found it difficult to get to town and also needed some time for herself! She found a love of running that she didn’t know she had, and completed a few half marathons, spending hours running the back lanes around the farm training.
Lucy loved being active, being outdoors and fit again, as well as having some very important time for herself. This lead to my inspiration for completing her Cert 3 & 4 in Fitness through the Australian Institute of Personal Trainers. Lucy wanted to be able to offer other people in their area the chance to enjoy feeling fitter, healthier and an opportunity to connect with others without having to make the long trip to town!!!
Soon after completing her course Lucy started group exercise and personal training sessions in the Ariah Park district. Unfortunately, within 6 months of starting out, she was faced with a serious health issue which has taken some time to recover from.
Lucy now fully recovered, and very excited to be involved with bringing Active Farmers to Ariah Park.
Welcome julie mills
We are super excited to welcome Julie to the Active Farmer Network and cannot wait for her to start in spring!
Julie was born and bred on the land and understands the physical and mental demands an hardships associated with farming.
Over the years Julie has spent time looking after four children, running of a farm, working in a pharmacy and a dental nurse.
After gaining an appreciation about the physical wear and tear on the body resulting from farming Julie decided to get into fitness. This lead her to complete her Cert 111 & 1V in personal training dnd she has now been involved in the industry for 8 years.
Julie currently instructs a wide variety of classes ranging from pump, water aerobics, circuits, suspension training, metafit, HIIT, step, boxing bootcamps and one on one personal training!
Julie loves to help and motivate people and watching the changes exercise has on peoples loves both physically and mentally. She therefore feels very fortunate to be able to become part of the Active Farmers network!

Who can come?
All farmers and the Ariah Park community are welcome to come along to the Active Farmer classes! It doesn't matter what level of fitness you have or how much experience you have, our programs are designed to be suitable for everyone. What does it cost?
One off class = $15
10 class pass = $150 ($15/class)
One month/one class per week = $50 ($12.5/class)
One month/two classes per week = $80 ($10/class)
One month pass with two classes/month = $27 ($13.5/class)
Three months/one class per week = $130 ($11/class)
Three months/two classes per week = $204 ($8.5/class)
